Twitter to start testing these new features with more users under its new ‘program’

Twitter seems to be trying new ways to increase the engagement on its platform and one of the ways it may make it happen is through several features that will soon be rolling out as a part of the public test. As one could imagine from the name, these features aim to make you or other Twitter users know when someone is online or canned messages to spark a conversation.

These new features will be made available to those joining the program. This program will be accessible to all in the coming weeks. This is solely for testing purposes as Twitter will take your feedback and will apply changes if necessary, before rolling it out to everyone.

It has also been mentioned that this new program will let users see new features openly on the social media website and share them on their timeline. They can also try a number of variations of experimental features, as reported by Engadget website.

One of the features that users in the program may see is the Facebook-like indicator that lets others know who is online. This will prevent users from at least posting a reply and waiting endlessly for their reply. Users could also see different indicators based on different variations. One of them includes having a status under the username.

There’s also an ‘ice breaker’ feature that are essentially canned messages that can be used to start a conversation with others. The feature was spotted by The Verge last year. One may also pin the ‘ice breaker’ tweet on their profiles.

Lastly, one of the features that could come as a part of the program is the revamped replies in a thread. This won’t bring a major visual change though but will make it easier to differentiate responses in a thread and the rest of the other tweets. It would look something like this.
