Jio GigaFiber offering landline services to subscribers in testing phase: Details here.

Jio GigaFiber broadband services have been in the testing phase for more than two years now and while Reliance Jio announced its FTTH broadband services in India last year, the Indian telco and Internet Service Provider (ISP) is yet to rollout the Jio GigaFiber broadband services for the masses.

Now, in a recent report, it has been revealed that Jio GigaFiber has also reportedly started offering landline services to subscribers who are part of the testing. A Twitter user named Preshit Deorukhkar recently tweeted, “Jio has started offering and activating landline services through its GigaFiber service, using the JioGigaHub (Home Gateway). You get an 8-digit landline number starting with 3xxx, and you have to source your own POTS instrument.

For the unknown, the GigaHub Home Gateway has already installed in the premises of existing Jio GigaFiber users in order to provide the fiber connectivity while it has recently been reported that the gateway will also be used to offer the GigaTV aka Jio Home TV services. It should be noted that on August 15, 2018, Reliance Jio announced the Jio GigaFiber services and said that it will act as an all-in-one solution for broadband, landline, video conferencing, IPTV, VR gaming, and other related services.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Reliance Jio will launch a combo plan for its subscribers with prices starting as low as Rs. 600 and it will include access to services such as broadband, TV, and landline services.

Reliance Jio is also testing a new Jio GigaFiber Triple Play plan among its employees which comes bundled with unlimited voice calling benefit, broadband data, Jio Home TV or Jio GigaTV and access to the whole suite of Jio apps. It is also expected that the Triple Play will be positioned differently than conventional broadband plans from Jio GigaFiber.

On the other hand, it should be noted that Reliance Jio earlier announced that Jio GigaFiber users will get two routers where one will be used for the broadband connection while the other will be a Jio GigaTV router. It was later revealed that for a new Jio GigaFiber connection, users will have to pay Rs. 4,500 as a security deposit for the two routers while there will be no installation charges.
