Shadi Shagun Yojana for Rs. 51,000

The main objective of Shadi Shagun Yojana is to motivate girls from minority groups to pursue higher education. The situation of education among Muslim girls is not that good but this step of MAEF and central government would be able to help achieve the target.

Shaadi Shagun is an addition made in the existing Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship that is given to meritorious girl students belonging to six notified minority communities — Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Parsis.

Eligibility for Shadi Shagun Yojana

This proposal by the Maulana Azad Education Foundation has been cleared by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. The Shaadi Shagun — as the program is named — is targeted at incentivizing advanced schooling among minority categories. All students availing Begum Hazrat Mahal scholarships funded by the Maulana Azad Foundation are eligible to utilize because of this top-up provision being presented in the design. The minority scholarships for weaker portions in the minority areas were initiated during the regime of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2003. In its prior avatar, meritorious girls from the minority community received regular stipends only till Course 12.

The proposal to increase the system to students choosing to graduate before matrimony was delivered to the Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in July. Shakir Hussain Ansari said, “We noticed that groups of Muslim young girls and other minorities are always in a problem about their daughter’s marriage and graduation studies. The minority teams prefer to save lots of money because of their daughter’s marriage somewhat than spend it on the graduation.

The Foundation is currently preparing an internet portal describing the criterion of the design, to create ‘Shaadi Shagun”, and you will be presented at the overall body meeting the following month to the minister. Shaadi Shagun can be an addition manufactured in the prevailing Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship or grant that is directed at meritorious lady students owned by six notified minority areas — Muslims, Parsis, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Christians.
