WhatsApp may soon allow users to sort status updates based on user’s preference

Facebook-owned WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature to help users filter WhatsApp Status updates. Presently, the Status updates are shown in chronological order which can be problematic for users with hundreds of contacts.

As reported by Mashable, the company is testing a new algorithm that will enable its users to sort WhatsApp Status updates based on their preference. WhatsApp Status update is similar to the Snapchat stories and was introduced in 2017.

The Mashable report suggests that the ability to sort updates for now will be tested among a small set of iPhone users in Brazil, Spain, and India. It may be rolled out to more users in coming months.

WhatApp Group Invitation feature

In related news, the social messaging app is also planning to introduce WhatsApp Group Invitation feature. It will make the groups less annoying. As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp users will have an option to choose either to join a group or not. Once the feature is rolled out, WhatsApp will seek permission every time an individual is added in a group. It is expected that the company may soon roll out the feature to iOS Beta.

It is important to note that the feature will not be automatically activated. Users will have to opt for it under the Settings section. Following the path Settings>>Account>>Privacy>>Groups, they can select three options for ‘who can add me to groups’. These will include Everybody, My Contacts and Nobody.

Meanwhile, it was reported earlier this month that the company is rolling out the beta version of WhatsApp Business on iOS. The app is compatible with iOS 8 and include some useful messaging tools and a different colour background.
