Reliance Jio, Amazon, Paytm Voted As Most Trusted Brands In India In Consumer Survey.

With brand consciousness emerging in India, the brand loyalties have increased as well. YouGov conducted a survey, in August 2019, with a sample size of 1,017 respondents aged 18 to 40. The respondents were asked to choose between 76 brands across five categories namely ecommerce, online payments, online travel booking, cab-hailing and mobile network providers.

Indian consumers chose their favourite brand in the survey that asked Indian shoppers about their most trusted online brands. Jio, MakeMyTrip and Paytm emerged as the most trusted brand online. Ecommerce retailers Amazon won the maximum trust vote for online shopping.

“While Indians are more trusting of global brands in areas of online shopping and ecommerce, Indian brands are more reliable when it comes to making online payments, for online travel bookings and while choosing a mobile network provider,” the survey read.

The brands which had something exceptional to offer, in terms of price, duration and quality, beat up all the other, irrespective of their origin.

In just four year’s time, Reliance Jio has been trusted as the most trusted telecom network brand in the survey with 41% votes. Cheapest data and call rates can be seen as few factors contributing to this win. Indian brand Airtel, which started offering its services in 1995, was voted as the second most trusted brand. UK-based Vodafone, which entered the Indian market in 1994, has been the third most trusted brand.

For shopping, Amazon emerged as the winner in the online retail stores with 45% votes. The Ecommerce website has been investing a lot globally with it’s faster deliveries. The platform has been most trusted when it comes to electronics, with comparison to Flipkart which got 25% trust votes. India based retailers Flipkart and Myntra have ranked and second and third place with 21% and 13% votes, respectively.

In terms of online transactions and e-wallet, Paytm was the obvious choice for most with a vote share of 40%. Google Pay, despite entering the market in 2017, stood second with 27% votes. Flipkart-owned PhonePe ranked third with 10% votes. The survey shows that despite entering the market more recently, Google Pay is increasing its user base.

As far as cab-hailing services are concerned, both San Francisco-based Uber Technologies and Bengaluru-based Ola emerged as winners.
