IRCTC: Railways’ Big Initiative To Meet Passengers’ Diet Requirements.

Bhubaneswar: Indian Railways has introduced ‘special diet food service’ for health conscious passengers. At present, the service has been introduced in Konkan Kalyan Express and Mandovi Express on the Konkan route between Mumbai and Goa.



 

As per official sources, the special diet food service on-demand for health enthusiasts include- grilled sandwiches, sprout chats and boiled vegetables.

One can also order food without compromising on calories and nutritional value. Similarly, the passengers can also get several beverages including green tea, soya milk and coconut water.

The passengers can also opt for oat meals, cornflakes or even dalia as per their requirements.

The new service is likely to come to the rescue of health conscious people as well as elderly passengers as earlier they had to carry their own food during train journey.

The South Central Railway had sent 31 chefs and attendants for training in hotel management schools so that they can manage quality and maintain luxurious restaurant taste and satisfy the taste bud of passengers.
“The diet food meal quality was superb as it was not spicy or oily,” said a passenger.

Another passenger said, “Even though it was diet food, we loved the meal that was served in the train. The service, quantity was more than our expectation.”
