Petrol Bunks To Offer Discount To Customers Who Vote At General Elections.

To encourage Indians to exercise their voting rights, petrol bunks will be offering a discount on the fuel bills on election day. The All India Petroleum Dealers Association (AIPDA) in a statement on Friday said, “We have come forward to promote voting among the voters with a ‘Promote Voting’ campaign with a 50-paise/litre discount.”

The offer that will fetch customers a discount of 50 paise per litre will be available between 8 am to 8 pm at the fueling stations that agree to participate in the campaign. It will be given only to customers that have a voting mark on their finger. Further, this discount is only limited to 20 litres of fuel that day.

At least 90 percent of the 58,000 dealers under the association are expected to participate in the campaign. The burden of the discount will be borne by the dealers and not the oil marketing company.

Meanwhile, petrol prices per litre across the country remained unchanged on Saturday at Rs 72.91 in New Delhi, Rs 74.93 in Kolkata, Rs 78.48 in Mumbai and Rs 75.67 in Chennai. Diesel prices per litre were hiked by 5 paise to Rs 66.19 in New Delhi, Rs 67.93 in Kolkata, Rs 69.23 in Mumbai and Rs 69.89 in Chennai. International crude oil benchmark Brent crude futures closed 1.35 percent higher on Friday at $70.34 a barrel as strong US employment data and optimism on trade talks between Washinton and Beijing revived expectations of an increase in global demand for fuel.
