Applied for PAN card? Here’s how you can track your application status.

New Delhi: The Income Tax Department issues a ten-digit permanent account number (PAN) which is one of the most important financial document in the country. P serves as identity proof across the country. As per the rules, an individual cannot hold two PAN cards simultaneously since it is considered illegal. In order to get a PAN card, one needs to pay Rs 110 and submit their address proof, ID proof etc.



 

One can enrol for PAN through online, as well as, offline. After enrolling and successfully submitting all the required documents, PAN card is sent to the applicant’s address via post. They can track the status of their PAN card application easily since it is quite a simple process. Once you apply for a PAN card or update/correct any information in your PAN, you get an acknowledgement number which can be used to track the status of your PAN application.

It may be noted that when an applicant successfully submits their PAN card application, a unique 15-digit code is generated and allotted to the applicant. This is known as the PAN card acknowledgement number and it can be used to track the status of the PAN card generation or update. The acknowledgement number can also be used to download the ePAN card within one month of issuance of the new PAN card from both NSDL and UTIITSL website.



 

If you have applied for PAN card, here’s how you can track that status of your application

1. Through UTIITSL portal:

Step 1: Visit UTIITSL website.

Step 2: Locate ‘Service’ and from the dropdown, select ‘PAN Card’ and from further drop down click on ‘Track your PAN card’.

Step 3: A new window will open where you are required to enter your application coupon number or PAN number and date of birth.

Step 4: Enter the Captcha code and click on ‘Submit’.

2. Through Tin- NSDL portal

Step 1: Visit Tin-NSDL website and locate ‘Services’.

Step 2: Select ‘PAN’ from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Select ‘Know Status of Your Application’.

Step 4: Select the appropriate application type and enter the acknowledgement number.

Step 5: Enter the Captcha code and click on ‘Submit’.
