Google finally kills off this service.

NEW DELHI: Google introduced its URL shortner tool in 2009. Using the this tool, users were able to shorten any long url without any problem. Google announced the shut down of the service last year and now the tool was officially killed by the company on March 30.

The company decided to do away with the service due to the decrease in its use. The service was made unavailable to new users starting May 2018 and now it is not available for anyone.

After shutting down the service, Google also asked users to consider using app-centric Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL) or similar popular services like Bitly and Ow.ly as alternatives.

Recently, Google announced the official shut down of its email app Inbox. The company confirmed that it will shutdown the Inbox app by Gmail on April 2. The tech giant also sent notice to the Inbox users informing them about the complete shut down. Along with announcing the official shut down date for the Inbox app, the company has also mentioned some shortcuts to open the Gmail app. The company also mentioned that slowly it will introduce some features of the Inbox app to Gmail.

This year Google also pulled the plug on two of its other products as well. The company decided to kill its messaging app Google Allo and its social network Google+. Google said that all of the above mentioned products are killed as part of the Spring Cleanup of the company.

After the shutdown of Google Allo the company will focus more on the messaging app and will introduce new features in it to make it more user friendly. On the other hand, Google+ was killed because of the low user interaction and the two security bugs discovered in the platform.
