Have you ever made a mistake while booking online train tickets via IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Operation) website or simply wanted to transfer your booked ticket to someone in your family? IRCTC now allows passengers to make these changes in their tickets but there’s a catch: passengers can only avail this facility only once as said by an IRCTC official. Now, if you are wondering how to avail this service. here are the steps you need to follow

1. Take a print out of the ticket
2. Head to your nearest railway reservation counter
3. Bring original ID proof of anyone passenger travelling in the ticket along with a photocopy of it
4. Here, you can ask the counter officer to change the passenger’s name in the ticket

Note: To avail this facility you’ll have to visit the reservation office minimum 24 hours prior to the train’s scheduled departure.

To transfer your ticket to some other person in your family

As mentioned earlier, IRCTC also allows travellers to transfer their ticket to someone in their blood relation such as father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband and wife.

According to IRCTC, the traveller should bring a print out of the ticket along with the original ID proof of the current traveller along with evidence of blood relation with the new traveller to the reservation desk.

To add, Indian Railways has also simplified the process of getting Train status, booking status and PNR Status via WhatsApp in partnership with online website MakeMyTrip. To get the details all you need to do is save the official WhatsApp number on your phone and send several keywords such as PNR status and more to get the information on your phone.
