Budget 2019: Govt proposes Kisaan scheme, to transfer Rs 6,000/year to small farmers
New Delhi: To provide relief to distressed farmers, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal proposed Kisaan scheme under which Rs 6,000 per year will be transferred directly to bank accounts of small farmers.
The Kisaan scheme is likely to benefit 12 crore farmer families, Goyal said. The income support scheme for farmers will cost the government Rs 75,000 crore per year.
First instalment of Rs 2,000 to be given to farmers soon under the Kisaan scheme, he said. For the current financial year, the Finance Minister proposed Rs 20,000 crore for farmer income support.
