The national transporter is also working to strengthen its Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) app. Aside from UTS app improvement and QR code introduction, railways’ northwestern division is also working to increase the number of automatic ticket vending machines at stations.

Soon, passengers will be able to get QR codes of train tickets online which is expected to boost the paperless ticketing system.

It may be noted that the UTS mobile app allows users to book unreserved tickets online. The process of availing tickets involves downloading the application and registration by furnishing the requisite details.

After successful registration, the user is given a user-ID and password, which the person can use to log-in and book tickets. The passenger has to be within a five-kilometre range of the source station to be able to buy a ticket through the UTS app. A passenger is allowed to book four tickets at a time.

As per a ToI report, passengers coming from the main entry of Jaipur railway station were upset with current ticket and platform ticket counters being shifted to the Passenger Reservation Counter (PRS). People coming with four-wheelers to drop someone were inconvenienced as they had to park their vehicles and walk around 700 metres back towards the PRS just to buy platform ticket and current ticket.
