Amazon India on Tuesday announced the expansion of its ultra-fast delivery on Amazon Now app, rebranding it to Prime Now. Available exclusively for Prime members only, Prime Now offers Express 2-hour delivery anytime between 6 am to midnight including same-day and next-day delivery.

Available in Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi and Hyderabad, Prime Now has an expanded selection of over 10,000 products including categories like fruits & vegetables, grocery, staples, meats, and Home & Kitchen supplied by Amazon through the Now Store, as well as by supermarkets such as Big Bazaar, Aditya Birla More, and local specialty sellers like Licious and Pescafresh.

The Now Store offers a range of over 150 perishable groceries across fresh fruits and vegetables and dairy products, that are stored and delivered chilled at customer’s desktop. The selection is updated every season with seasonal fruits like Mangoes available in different varieties.
Amazon has 15 fulfillment centers across India that are equipped with temperature control zones, kitchen appliances, beauty products and household supplies available on Prime Now.

“We are excited about scaling up our grocery experience with a significantly expanded selection and new delivery services with Prime Now, an Ultrafast App, for ‘delivery in hours’. Customers can access the fresh quality of fruits & vegetables, staples, and also get access to popular Amazon bestsellers. With new delivery hours, and over 10,000 products fulfilled by Amazon, customers can look forward to a fast, convenient and trustworthy shopping experience on Prime Now,” said Sameer Khetarpal, director – Category Management (Grocery), Amazon India.

Prime Now can be accessed by downloading the app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and sign in with your Amazon account.

“On Prime Now, customers can shop for products from our Now store which is fulfilled by Amazon. We have invested in the customized infrastructure of fulfillment centers (FC) for faster deliveries and chill chains to maintain temperatures at optimum conditions for leafy products and dairy products like curd and paneer. We are encouraged by the strong customer response and quantities ordered have grown by 90% monthly since the launch of the NOW store,” said Siddharth Nambiar – head of Prime Now, Amazon India.

Amazon is focussing on its grocery business, an area which is already dominated by giants by BigBasket and Grofers. Amazon Now this year started delivering groceries from its own stores. It earlier delivered groceries for third-party vendors like BigBasket and Hypercity.
