Aadhaar cards will now have an updated QR code, making user verification possible even offline, without the 12-digit ID number.
The digitally-signed QR code on e-Aadhaar will have user’s photograph along with other non-sensitive demographic details such as name, address and date of birth.

A type of barcode label containing machine-readable information, the updated QR code will have a UIDAI digital signature, making the details more secure and tamper-proof.
You can download, print your biometric ID and QR code from the UIDAI’s website or mobile app.
For offline identity verification, you can manually blacken your Aadhaar number, get its printout with the updated QR code and use it.

However, to verify the user’s identity, the photo on Aadhaar will be checked with the person’s face or through an agency specific authentication scheme. Meanwhile, the UIDAI has made the e-Aadhaar QR code reader software available on its website from March 27, 2018.
